#21DaysBibleChallenge Days 2-3

For those who are undertaking this #21DaysBibleChallenge with me, here are parts of my devotion from day 2 to day 3. As always feel free to comment your insights or message me! Let's grow together in faith!

Day2: John Chapter 2
Here are a few things the Holy Spirit revealed to me through John chapter two.
1.  Trusting in God + Obediences works miracles
"Jesus said to her, " Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, " Whatever He says to you, do it."-John 2:2-5
  • Mary demonstrated great faith! She knew who Jesus was, she knew His powers and capabilities. This knowledge of the Almighty made her resilient in her request so even after Jesus said His hour has not yet come, she ignored it and went on to tell the servants at the party to obey whatever Jesus tells them to do! The end result was a miracle!
  • When Jesus asked Mary, " what does your concern have to do with Me?" it wasn't that He didn't care about the panic occurring at the wedding. Jesus wanted Mary to state her request! This taught me that like Mary, when I am faced with difficulties, I need to know that only God can help with the problem and also like Mary, I need to bring it to God. When God will ask me, "what does this have to do with Me," I will reply, "Lord I am Your daughter! Whatever troubles me is the concern of my Father! Help me, Father!". God will not let me request go unanswered. He will perform a miracle to keep me from facing shame!
2. My body is the temple of the Lord! It is NOT for sale.
"And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers doing business. ...And He said to those who sold doves, " Take these things away! Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise!"- John 2: 14-16

  • I have longed understood this scripture to mean we should not defile the church of God. It should be a place of worship and reverence of  God not a place of business; however, during this study God drew my eyes to the above scripture where it was those selling doves that Jesus addressed! The Holy spirit made me to understand that the dove is a bird that represents purity and holiness! In John1 : 32 says " And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him." The dove was representing the Holy Spirit that fell on Jesus Christ signifying to John the Baptist that Jesus was the Son of God.
  • Therefore the Lord revealed to me that in the above Scripture, Jesus addressed those people selling doves meaning the people who were selling their purity and holiness! That's why He said, " Do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise!" We were made to worship! Our bodies are the temple of the Most High God, not a place where we buy and sell ourselves and souls to the highest bidder. The Lord desires to dwell in me and I must present my body a living sacrifice Holy and acceptable unto Him. That is my reasonable service!

Day 3: John Chapter 3

1. God loves me very much but I must accept the gift of salvation
"For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."- John 3:16
  • God's love for me was deep enough for Him to come in the flesh to die for my sins just to bring me back to Him that I may spend eternity with Him. This sacrifice is a gift that I must accept. Though salvation is free, I must choose to accept it. No one is condemn because the Blood of Jesus did not reach them. Condemnation only comes to those who know there's a free gift and have chosen not to accept that gift.  John 3:36 says, " He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
2. Darkness hates Light
"And this is the condemnation that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed."-John3: 19-20
  • Condemnation comes to those who refuse to repent of their sins. They love sin more than the holiness of God. In short, the sins are too sweet to let go. They are fully aware that that their deeds are evil and if they come to Christ Jesus they will be made to repent and sin no more. As a result, they choose to remain in their darkness they cannot live the same lifestyle in the light. Therefore condemnation is their end result. The blood of Christ covers repented sin! Any sin that is not confessed we must pay the price for it ourselves and the Bible makes it clear that the wages of sin is death which is eternal separation from God.
My prayer, " Father let your light expose every part of my life that is not pleasing to You that I may repent and live in your marvelous light in Jesus' name". Amen.

3 All the glory must go to God alone!
"John answered and said, " a man can receive nothing unless it has been given to Him from Heaven...He must increase but I must decrease"-John 3:27-30
  • People wanted John to be angry at Jesus for "taking his disciples" because it was heard that Jesus was now baptizing more people than John. John, however, knew what his assignment on earth was! He was sent before Christ as the voice in the wilderness that is crying ," prepare ye the way of the Lord". He was the messenger. He did not come to do God's work to be praised or followed therefore when people thought he should be angry at the following Jesus was gathering, John simply replied them that Christ is to be glorified.
  • This scripture taught me to
    • Serve God wholeheartedly!
    • Not desire fame! I am just the vessel! It is a privilege to be a tool in the hands of the Almighty.
    • humble myself.  All that I am or have is a gift from God in heaven. There's nothing that my "hard work" has accomplished except that which the grace of God has given me.
  • Whenever someone tries to pump me up, my job is to kindly point them back to Christ. He must increase and I must decrease

Thank you for taking time to read! I will post devotions from days 4-5 on Wednesday! Until then, may the Almighty bless you and keep you! Happy Easter everyone!
