"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."-Hebrews 10:23
As I studied this Word tonight, the Lord began to minister to me that there are two players involved in the above Scripture. The first part of the verse starts with an instruction, "let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering." The "us" in the verse shows that the believer is the first player. Before God enters the picture, we must first be convinced of the faith we profess and confess. This conviction must be without wavering meaning we cannot have lukewarm faith that is hot one day and cold the next. How can we expect God to do the impossible, when our very faith in that God is unsure? The Word of God says "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation", (Romans 10:10). The power of what we declare with our mouth and the strength of the confession of our hope will be limited by the confidence we have in the God we serve. When the odds are against you is not the time to lose confidence in God, but the time to hold fast your confidence in His power and in His capabilities. We are told in Hebrews 10: 35,
"Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward."- (NKJV)
The great reward of a sound unmovable faith is God stepping in our behalf. The latter part of Hebrews 10: 24 says, "for He who promised is faithful". When you have done your part and held on to your hope, God does the rest. The Word of God says, "God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"- Numbers 23:19 God cannot deny His Word. It is not in His nature to say and then not do. He cannot promise and then not fulfill. I may tell you I will help you with something, but when the day comes, I have a change of heart and retract my words, but God is FAITHFUL! David said in Psalm 138:2, "I will worship toward Your holy temple,And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name". God is so crazy faithful that His Word means more to Him than His Name, the same Name that is above all names, the same Name at whose mention every knee must bow and every tongue must confess!
What you are facing may be bigger than you, but be encouraged that it is not bigger than your God. We serve a God that doesn't care about statistics or what the odds say about you. Whatever He promised, by the very nature of His being, He must fulfill. It may be the 11th month of the year and you didn't think you will still be facing the struggles of January, or you may be facing struggles in your marriage or school, or maybe people have given up on you, but I want you to be encourage today. Start speaking life into your life and circumstance knowing well that God is not done with your case for "As Scripture says, "Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame." (Romans 10:11). The Lord will beat the odds for you and you will not be put to shame. Amen.
