Being a Healthy Me

As most people are beginning to realize, I've been on a mission since October 2011 of taking care of myself physically and becoming healthy. I realized it was time when I bought a scale and stepped on it and could not believe how much I've abandoned myself ever since starting college at the University of Texas-Austin (Hook 'Em). I became so consumed by school work, labs, lab reports, midterms, all the typical college student headaches, that my health was not a priority anymore. I ate out or ordered-in constantly because of the connivence of having the food already made since I could barely find time to study, let alone, find time to sleep or eat. Within no time, lack of sleep plus bad eating habits equaled weight-gained but on that faithful day when I ordered the scale, I told myself enough was enough. It was time to start taking care of ME and I was not going to feel guilty nor selfish for blocking out an hour a day dedicated to myself.

Time

Time holds much power
as it moves independently
stoic of the events of the next hour
time flows and shows no mercy

As you take your sweet precious time
the hands of the clock ticks on
soon the rays of sunshine
disappears as the moon replaces the sun

The mintues become hours and hours become days
and the dreams that were reachable become fantasies
because as days evolve into yesterdays
dreams become harder to grasps, harder to see

The time to live is here to be taken advantage of while it lasts
so laugh, dream, cry, love, and be glad
NOW, before the present develops itself into the past
and "I have" becomes "I had"

My Mission is Love

Yesterday Sunday July 29, 2012 I woke up as usual and went through my morning routine to prepare for church.  As I was brushing my teeth, I looked at myself in the mirror and I heard....

" Feefe, if someone asked you what your mission in life is, what would you tell them?"

The question struck me as odd, because it was so unexpected. It was not premeditated neither have I been thinking about my purpose in life recently yet I heard the question as clear as day as if someone was standing next to me addressing me and I knew I've heard from God.

I stopped brushing, looked at myself and I replied  " If someone was to ask me what my mission is on earth, I would tell them that my ministry on earth is that of Love. I was created to make manifest the love of Christ Jesus to all I come in contact with. Unconditional love. Unnecessary kindness. Loving without expecting anything in return. Complete and utter selflessness. Christ Love."

Here's to a New Undertaking!

I've had this blog for a long time now but never felt the need to start blogging. Lately however, I've been inspired to put my thoughts into writings and see where God takes this. In everything that I do, including blogging, He must be reverenced.

What do I plan to share with the world?

  1.  My relationship with Jesus Christ in hope of sharing God's Love and anything that He lays on my heart. Yes, this is/ will be a Christian blog based on Biblical principles and ideas.
  2. My personal life....to an extent. It will mostly consist of school related subjects and interactions with the world.
  3. Healthy living/ Fitness. A new found passion of mines :)
  4. Poetry I've written or find inspirational
  5. Lots of music I love. I have a song for just about everything I go through. For the situations that I can't find a song to, I write my own.
  6. (Open) Anything readers suggest I address or would love my opinion on. The only condition is that it must be appropriate.

I pray that whoever comes across this and reads anything posted henceforth, will gather strength, encouragement, and joy from the posts. Here's to what lies ahead! cheers!
