True Love Waits Series.....(Part 3, Abstinence in 2012)

In a world of promiscuity, it seems no one preaches about abstinence anymore. I recently had a break after my final exams to actually sit down and watch one the only thing I turn on my tv to watch besides Food Network and HGTV, which is WE Tv's show called "Say Yes to the Dress". It's a show that shows soon-to-be-married women trying on wedding dresses and I'm a big lover of people getting married so I love the show. Anyways, the show went on a break so I flipped through the channels only to hear a informercial of a new show coming tittled "High School Moms" and a young girl's voice saying " I never thought I'll be 14 and pregnant". I sat still for a moment trying to comprehend what I was hearing. A girl is 14 years old or should I say 14 years young, and pregnant......WOW!

As surprised as I was, I knew I shouldn't be surprised. With the overwhelming provocative "music" on the radio and "reality" television shows being shoved down the throats of today's youth, these things are becoming the norm, but God knew what He was doing when He created sex for the joining of a man and woman in the bed of marriage. Sex is holy and sacred irregardless of what the world wants to define it as.  Sex was created to be the joining of two souls and flesh into one which happens in the bond of marriage. Sex outside of marriage is therefore sexual immortality and we should flee from it.

" Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body."- 1 Corinthians 6:18

Your body is God's holy resting place. We sell ourself cheap when we listen to the influences of the world, instead of God's desire for us. To the ladies, don't fall for the reason "why buy a car before test-driving it". You are NOT a car. If the man wants to test drive a car, simply direct him to the nearest Lincoln/ Honda/Toyota dealership. A car that has been test-driven by the whole world eventually becomes a cheap USED car that no one wants to buy anymore. People would rather pay more for a new car so be wise!! To the men, RUN from the seductive woman just like Joseph ran from Potiphar's wife if you love your soul!

"For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell"-Proverbs3:3-5

"For this is the will of God, your sanctification:that you abstain from sexual immorality"-1 Thessalonians 4:3
That is the will of God concerning us. It may not be popular idea in the eyes of the world, but it's God's will. Uphold yourself in purity and pray asking God for the grace to flee temptations for they shall come. Your virginity is nothing to be ashamed off, rather it's something to be proud of in today's world.  Keep praying that God upholds you even as you move from teenage years, to college, to adulthood until the day of marriage. For those that have made a mistake, it's never too late to start over with God. He has the power to make make all things new. Peter once asked
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?"-Romans 6:1

And the answer is no. Just because you've fallen once, or twice, etc, does not mean you should keep sinning. Jesus told the woman accused of adultery to "Go and sin no more" and the same applies here. With a repented heart, seek God's forgiveness and forgive yourself for a saint is just a sinner who has received God's pardon. If you ask Him, He is faithful and just to forgive you. Stand up again and walk with God again in purity. Marriage is the only place where sex is used the way God intended for it to be used. Your body is God's holy place. Be mindful of who and what you let in. Respect Yourself.
